Oh Good GOSH at the drama already.........

Seriously.........I hate drama and I seem to be getting it from all sides.

My 16 year old is in the midst of causing drama, being manipulative and just down right disrespectful because...........wait for it..........I took her cell phone since she decided that it was okay to cuss at me. NOT happening! My 21 year old has yet, to this day, cussed in front of me. Why.....because she respects me......but when you have a dad who buys into your drama and manipulation it makes it that much easier for her to carry out her plan of making Mom look bad.

Major drama at the college which consists of almost the entire Nursing administrative staff being "dismissed" from their jobs on the spot (dare I say fired?)......including the Head of the Nursing program and some instructors. Of course rumors are flying as to why this occurred but my main concern was my summer internship (preceptorship) because most of the staff was fired, I was concerned about which person in the staff had granted my preceptor position in the Peds ER. If the person who granted it is no longer there???.....I have no proof that it was ever granted or they could possibly deny it because of that persons absence. Luckily I found out yesterday that it was one of my instructors who is still faculty that granted the okay for me to take the position so I'm good. BIG *WHEW* I spent most of yesterday stressing over that until I found out for sure.

Now I have to write my own syllabus and course objectives and have those approved prior to starting my preceptor position, hopefully no later than Wednesday of next week. Wish me luck, I've certainly never written my own course objectives before and while I'm not all that concerned about writing them I AM concerned about meeting with my clinical educator to see if they are approved.

It's just tons of fun, can I tell ya! All the drama aside, I am feeling great. Having this semester just one test away from being done is really a confidence booster and knowing that I am a mere 6 weeks from graduation is awesome!!

So.........what's up with y'all?
I'm off to study a bit for my final on Monday and then try to hit the sack early tonight. Y'all have a great weekend.

Whoa...everybody fired at once? Yowser! You'll do fine. Keep your course objectives somewhat general and vague, you don't want a lot of specifics that may never get met (because ERs are tremendously unpredictable and it is summer, and kids, ya know...)

Daughter will grow up into a fine young lady. Isn't it a rule or something that they're supposed to give their moms grief at that age?

:)
ps - you left your comment to me on my son's blog. Mine's linked on the side of my profile. :)

Best of all wishes and blessings!

You'll get through this stuff with your daughter by standing your ground. She'll see the light soon enough.

Yeah, when I was a teen, I did whatever I could to convince mom that dad was bad...etc. It's a teen thing, she'll grow out of it someday. Keep firm, consistant limits and it'll get learned(mileau therapy...psych!)
Seriously? almost the entire admin staff? YOU BETTER MAKE SURE SOMEBODY IS STILL SENDING OUT YOUR APPS! I'm glad that your ER preceptorship is still OK.
Just write general goals, you'll be ok. "Identify how patient acuity plays a role in organizing care" REally good one with you being in the ER!
Me? NCLEX Tuesday at 2PM! 2.5 hour drive to the center, and a long weekend of studying ahead!

Isn't "16 year old daughter" and "drama" somewhat redundant?

An entire floor of nurses at the hospital my mother-in-law works in was "layed off" last week... I wonder how these places function at times.

Good luck with today's final.
